A high school senior, Mason Bird already has accumulated a lengthy history of service. He has coached elementary students in soccer for three seasons and volunteered at an Operation Christmas Child warehouse during the holiday season for the past four years. He also assisted with Special Olympics events and has served meals at a local soup kitchen. In addition, Mason Bird traveled to Honduras twice, as a member of mission trips, to help those in need, and he participated in a “fun day” at a local children’s home. A talented student who has taken several AP classes, he has served as an editor of the school yearbook, president of the National Honor Society, and as a member of the Student Leadership Council.
Mason Bird is also gifted in athletics. He captained the soccer and basketball teams the last two years, earning recognition his junior year as Best Offensive Player in basketball and as Conference Player of the Year in soccer his senior year. He has made all-conference teams in both sports. During his sophomore and junior years, Bird won a prestigious school award recognizing his leadership skills, athletic and academic accomplishments, and overall character. Following his graduation in 2013, he plans to attend a university with challenging academics and opportunities for community service.
